Augusta Thomas Receives Esteemed Rosina Tucker Award

After many years of dedication and service for the equality of all people, Augusta Thomas was awarded the Rosina Tucker Award from the A. Philip Randolph Institute. The banquet held Saturday, August 21 in St. Louis honored Thomas for her forthright commitment and endless contributions to this struggle.

Thomas is currently serving as the National Vice President of the Women’s and Fair Practices Department of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE). In her time at AFGE, she made it her primary objective to expound upon Equal Employment Opportunity issues and has ensured that there was a proper training program in place. Thomas has served both her local community and region for over 42 years before coming to AFGE.

The Rosina Tucker Award is one of the top three honors given every year by the institute and it is awarded to a person that has dedicated themselves to restoring the dignity of America just as Tucker, a Labor Pioneer and organizer did.
